    Tarp Side Tie Out Line

My Chinook tarp, while great for the price, lacks side tie out points. So, I put together a line with a "loop and bury" at each end. The plan is to use soft foam bits (ear plugs), inside the tarp and grab them with the loops, to form tie out points. I'm concerned with possible wear to the tarp fabric. Has anyone done this with success?

I use Grip Clips on my Spinn Mamba Jamba. No issues yet. I have used river rocks on sil tarps in the manner you described for a weekend or two here and there with no lasting issues.

You can also patch tarps quite easy if it does cause any issues.

Worst case, the Chinook is priced right that you could pick up another if your current one fails.

If i were you I would get some grip clips from JRB and then get some of Mountainfitters Guyline. You really can't beat 12.95 shipped for 50', it's spliceable and it weighs a fraction of your amsteel. While you're at Mountainfitter.com you might as well grab some of his new titanium Ti-Eye stakes as well. My 2 cents, anyway.

Yeah that Guyline is nice, I picked up 150' a week ago. It's in place on all four corners of the tarp. The line in the pic is Lash-it. It's actually a bit lighter than the Guyline, but more importantly much softer, so I thought it would be less abrasive on the tarp.
