The Sycamore loop is definitely one of my favourite areas down there. I don't enjoy having to watch out for land mines (horse manure) on all of the other trails. I figured I wouldn't have to worry about the land mines much on this trip, but I wanted to stick to the territory I'm most familiar with since I already had enough challenges to begin with. I didn't want to add navigating unknown or unfamiliar terrain to the list.

Thankee, sir. Your Bush Buddy and alcohol stove were part of the inspiration for me choosing that setup, though I'd been using a couple of home-made alky stoves before I watched any of your videos. I'm still experimenting with different stoves, but I think the Little Bug is a keeper.

I certainly intend to. I'm trying to get out at least once a month, year-round. I may be able to make it out for a second trip in January, but I'm not positive yet.

I've never done much except solo trips. . . So much so that I find it odd to try to travel and camp with others now.
And yep, it's a Mora 521. I'm a bit of a knife nut, and I've tried a good number of fixed blades, but I keep coming back to the 10 dollar Mora. It may get replaced by my Spyderco Mule Team blade that I finally got handles made for, but I still need to finish the sheath before I can take that out and really give it a good test.

Thanks for the comments and compliments from everyone else too!

I like seeing the pics from my childhood/teen stomping grounds. I spent more time in the Deam than I did in church growing up.

Great report. Really brightened my day.

I'll be sending you a PM (probably not 'till after I get some sleep tho) to see if we can work something out. Sounds like fun. I'm thinking maybe Nebo Ridge? I've never hiked that one before, and I'd like to at least once some time before the Hoosier Hang. Or any other trail you have in mind would be good too. . . Nebo ridge is just a thought. Keep an eye out for that PM sometime later this morning, or in the afternoon.
