A little foot powder will help dry your feet. I usually put some on when I change my sock for bedtime. Be sure to get between the toes lots of moisture there.

On a related note, does anyone here wear sock liners e.g. polypro, silk, coolmax etc. inside their wool socks? I always wear wool socks and I'm giving the foot powder a try also but I am wondering if using some synthetic wicking liners will keep my feet any warmer.

I always wear sock liners to hike in, never to sleep in though. When hanging, I wear a loose pair of wool socks (kept just for sleeping). If it's a car camping type thing (I'm able to get more gear to my camp site), I'll have some of those hand warmer things and will throw one down to the foot end of the hammock. Also something I've found that works for me is to have warm feet before getting into the hammock. If my feet are "bone cold" before I even get into my hammock, it takes me much longer to get them warm. During the day, if I've got them with me, I'll use the "toe" warmer things inside my boots. As far as foot powder goes, I never use it when hiking, my feet will get wet but my liners and wool socks handle that well. At night I will use powder on my feet to dry them completely before putting on my fuzzys (larger wool socks). I'll also try to wash my feet before getting in the hammock if I'm backpacking to get as much grim/sweat off.

Do you think the VBL socks from the other thread(deep cold prep) would be useful here? would certainly keep your outer socks dry....
