I am from central South Carolina, Columbia, not the town of Central and have been ground camping all of my life.

I have suffered and am uniquely able to feel every rock, root, and promentory in each campsite I have attempted to sleep in. I have even softened the ground with bourbon and been unable to have a good nights sleep without exhaustion. I am too old to be a groundling and too poor to be a triple slide-out traveling house owner.

I have very much appreciated the Shug Emery YouTube videos and have fabric, webbing, etc. to build my 1st hammock.

I just recently ebayed an old Singer 99 sewing machine. I wish to be a groundling no more. Arborial is where its at!

Mucho info on DIY everything hammock related here. Too easy to get sucked into the ABYSS but once you are in . . . it's like being in "Sector 7". . . or heaven. . . maybe the same thing?

I'm in Irmo and there are several other forum members here in the Columbia area. Hope you get to make a hang with us sometime soon. Goat Island on Lake Greenwood coming up in May.
