SilNylon or Spinn fit your descriptions best.

Don't underestimate or write off SilNylon tarps. Cheaper than Spinn, readily available from many vendors, tough, light, small. The misting claims are way overblown. Most of the long time members of this forum have camped in severe storms happily under Sil.

No, my hood was wet, and water came off it. I was in and out a lot - we were BBQing on a fire and I kept forgetting things in the car. It's not like canvas where water comes through if you touch it.

Agreed. I've felt the little prickles on my face like lori describes, but couldn't find any place that was actually leaking. I've been in some pretty good rains and never felt like the tarp would let me down.

That lower figure translates into less waterproofness, but in general is sufficient for most tarp uses. If you are constantly camping in monsoon conditions silnylon would not likely be your fabric of choice, but for most uses in the continental U.S. a lot of us think it is the cost effective ultralight best.

i've got a batch of silnylon on order right now, it's supposed to have a 3000mm hh while still weighing around 1.3osy

I can also suggest from recent experience that it is pretty easy to reproof or add extra proofing (water resistence) to silnylon by painting on silicon / turps mixture. Maybe adds a tiny bit of extra weight.
