I hung New years night, it was awful!! Dag gum temps rose during the night and I flat out roasted. How am I supposed to test my winter gear when the weather doesn't cooperate?? It was supposed to rain too and all I got was a light sprinkle around midnight. And then to just put the icing on the cake, I left my hammock up the next day and when I went back out to check my stuff, my tarp was laying on top of my hammock. Loop broke on the tarp. And now I've got to let my hammock and my quilts dry out. It was already dark when I noticed all this so I've just left it for the next morning.

Yep, we hung on the eve and the night; arrived on Friday left on Sunday. It was a great weekend. I'll get some images up this evening when I get off from work.

I had a great time at Fort Clinch State Park for the whole New Year's weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep in my hammock, but my buddy (who I converted March of last year) did!

I hung out on both nights preceeding NYE. The family was camping at Stone Mt. Park in the trailer, but I just couldn't take it any more, so I strung up the hammock and stayed out both Wednesday and Thursday nights. Mid and upper 30s the two nights. Warm as could be both nights. Wished I could have stayed out NYE, but it was not convenient once we were back in town.

Pics will follow (I didn't transfer them to my thumb drive to post from work).

    Proof

Stone Mountain Park, December 29, 30

Temps were low 30s. I did not get the chance to hang out the 2 nights before, when temps were down in the teens. Long story, camping with family, very sick daughter. Other priorities before hanging.

My third time hanging, first time in the wilds, was New Years Night on the leeward side of a ridge line along the Knobstone Trail in southern Indiana. The recorded low was 23 point something. It was great! I am hoping to go again this weekend. I will feel comfortable if the temps stay above twenty.
