    Pad Comparison

I'm looking for a pad that might be as warm as, but more compact than my Thermarest Ridgerest. While the pad can be used as insulation for a hammock, the main purpose will be for use on the ground for wildlife photography. I'm a 3/4 UQ user, so this will likely replace my 18"x18" Evazote pad. The options I'm entertaining now are:

    JRB Torso Pad
    Nunatuk Luna Pad
I would cut the Nunatuk to the same length as the JRB torso pad.

Can't speak about the other pads but I use the WallyWorld waffle pattern blue pad, its about 24 inch wide, 72" long, weighs 15 oz and cost about $16 and I have used it in my BB down to 30 degrees

Here is a good discussion on some alternative pads. Warbonnetguy lists two suppliers about 4 posts down. I just ordered from the A1 Foam Supplier, they were dirt cheap so if they don't work for me, I'm not too worried.

I carry a ThermaRest Z-Seat from REI online as well. It's a good sit pad, dry surface to rest my pack, additional lumbar support in my pack, supplemental insulation in the hammock etc.. It's tiny and super lightweight. Kinda spendy when compared to some of the other options though.
