How I make side tie outs without sewing or glueing

I've been using this method for several years, mainly in tarp tenting. I went and bought those soft disposable yellow earplugs. Take the earplug on the inside of the tarp, place it where you would want the cord to be fastened on the outside. Press it out and put a simple tightening loop knot made out of shock cord around the silnylon on the outside. I've never had any damage done to the tarp due to this method. I know some people try using coins or rocks instead of the earplug, but I find that can cause abrasion on the silnylon. Also, the earplugs come in handy when your fellow hangers are a bit too close to you at night.

I've used super smooth, rounded stones from a river bed, but I wouldn't use any other stones.

    Seriously though,

those are my earplugs of choice. E-A-R taperfits. Makes the din from noisy neighbors go away. Sleeping bliss.

Great idea. That gives you lots of options for different tie-out situations. I have a 12 x 12 tarp that I plan to use both diagonally and on the square. Makes it easy to build a little porch for the day and tighten it down at night.
I ride with earplugs anyway, so I'll just bring some extras.
