    Wanting a New Thread Injector

After a year or so of DIY gear projects steming from this forum I'd like to get
myself a new toy. I tend to fight a bit with my current injector, keeping seams
straight and tight but it does a fine job if I stay on top of it.
Anyway I've been drooling over this Juki Exceed HZL-F600 and I was wondering if anyone has used or seen it? I know Santa has.

I don't want to rain on a parade. The problems you mentioned.. straight and tight seams may be user related and not a problem with the machine. _If_ that is the case a new machine might not be the answer to those specific issues. That is not to say "don't buy a new machine". It is more to say understand why you want the new machine and keep the expectations in touch with reality. BTW... It is absolutely OK to get a new machine just because you want one. That's a given.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Check out the govt surplus site govliquidation.com. There are sewing machines on there in WA, PA, GA, VA. Singers, Juki, Chandlers, and consews. Looks like the min bid is $150.

Some are straight and others blind stitch.

    good luck.

Yes Rev you are correct user error for the most part but as I implied I have to constantly
fiddel with the settings and it seems like reading the reviews that some of these
machines will sew with ease, I'm wondering if it's a case of you get what you pay for?
    Cutter thanks for the link!

You might want to contact your local sewing machine repair person/shop
(probably any quilter/seamstress/tailor you might know can tell you where to find one locally)
and see if your machine needs a tune up/lube job/timing adjustment...
after that, perhaps a few lessons from an experienced sewer as an xmas gift to yourself?
just a few tips from 'the voice of experience' can really get you a leg up on the learning curve...KM(who has been there, done that..yeah- I did not know it all..)

PKT, What is your present machine and when was the last time you had it serviced.
A shop can determine issues and fix?

    On the other hand...JUKI

A good machine is priceless, in my opinion.
But it won't fix operator failure.

My mom passed a couple of months ago and I saved a 1956 Singer 306K from the dumpster. My sisters told me it didn't work and me being a stubborn DIY guy had to take it home and give it a scrub and lube. I was not completely surprised that she fired up and after about $10 of replacement parts I have a sturdy thread injector that is slightly older than I am. It sews a dead on straight stitch too... as long as my hand is steady that is. I am delighted to have rescued it from the scrap yard, but understand the want for a spanking new machine now and then.

May your seams be straight and your spools full...

I saw a Necchi supernova on shopgoodwill.com. Great machine. If you could pick it up for less than $100 after shipping, it would be a steal.

Most of the newer machines are plastic and computerized. They have lots of stitches and are great for casual sewers and dressmakers. Lots to go wrong and they stitch fairly slow. Many of these type mahines have huge price tags and low resale value.

If you go that route.. make sure you know what you are getting into. Last time I checked on a site like that I was bidding on a pallet of untested, unknown stuff. It was going to weigh about 2500 pounds and I had to cart it away. I decided not to bother.

I have an old thread injector from the 60´s which a "borrowed for life" from my mother. This fall I had some problems with it cause I couldn´t do zig-zag. After a lot of engineering and thinking I found the problem, it was a "thing" inside the machine that was worn-out. I googled the internet and contacted a lot of people that was dealing en repairing and selling thread injector´s. After a couple of tries I found a guy who had some used parts for my kind of thread injector and luckily he had exactly the piece I needed. Bought it from him for cheap and my machine is now working perfectly again.

    Lucky me!

But the results of my DIY-sewing isn´t perfect anyway but that is because of the man in front of the thread injector
