You can get welded rings at the hardware store. They will be much heavier than the SMC rings. The cinch buckles you have heard a lot about and that I use and love can only be bought from here as far as I know http://www.onrope1.com/store/index.p...d=118&parent=4

That makes sense. I don't really need the mini binders there. Mule

You know, I overlooked one important detail, and that's the fact that we're talking about winter camping. You don't need the bugnet at all, so you can just flip the hammock over and sleep on the underside, avoiding the necessity of tying up the net. If you're using pads you can still easily unzip the netting and put the pad between the layers while the hammock is upside down.

I used ones from REI for my setup and ones from lowes and home depot for my boys.

    Or go here.

I don't find setting up my Claytor hammock to be all that time consuming. I use a ring buckle system with a loop on the tree end instead of a biner on the tree supports. I tie in the bug net lines to the loop around the tree and use mitten hooks to adjust the tention. I use a MacCat Deluxe tarp over all this and the setup is pretty much the same as any tarp. A square tarp set up as a diamond would save two tie outs, but at a loss of rain coverage.
