In most places hammocks will either be banned or you will have to buy a permit to use them. they will be regulated. Just Joking.

Maybe, some places will ban sleeping on the ground (in those tent thingies) and only hammocks will be allowed.

just because there are 10,000 members doesn't mean they get into the woods or use hammocks all the time. Lots of places to camp whether you use a hammock or a tent

    Special prize(s) for number 10,000?

Lets get together some giveaway gear for lucky number 10,000.

And their trail name will always be 10,000.

Mixed feelings here. I admit I do miss the small town feeling HF once possessed, but I don't have any qualms with seeing more hammocks along the trails when I'm hiking. I think it's great! The laws, rules, and regs won't change until there is pressure to change. Now, let's just hope they change in the proper direction. I'm also beyond thrilled that there is more and more discussion of hammocks beyond just camping. I got into hammocks because of camping, but quickly saw the value of the home-use hammocks. I felt so all alone for so long in that arena. It's good to have like minded neighbors on the block these days.

HF has entered her adolescence I think. Imagine the things that will happen in the years to come. Guess I better start working on that gear savings account again.

That is something! I feel like some of my other obscure passions.....like unicycling.... folks buy them ....learn them.....and then just do it once a year or so.
Probably like that with hammocks ...or a lot of backpacking. The majority only go once or twice a year but I made a vow to go as much as possible after not camping at all for a few years. I let work get in the way.
With some work I was able to really focus on work for shorter but more productive periods of time....thus more time for fun which makes the spirit bright.
Why work all day if your only producing for 3 out of the 12 hours! Lolly-gagging balances out the slog.
    Gonna play today!
