I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.

I've been thinking about a 12 x 15 cat cut OES lately. Our usual "go to" tarp on river trips is an MSR Outfitter Wing. It's 16 x16 I think, and works well for 6-10 people. It weights at least 10 lbs. We also have an MSR Pavilion which is even bigger (I call it the circus tent). When there's 2-4 of us I bring my Kelty Noah 12 x 12. But it's a tight squeeze to get 4 humans & a dog, the kitchen, plus 4 camp chairs & the card table for canasta under it. I got a MacCat deluxe for my hammock this summer, and it's so nice & light. That got me thinking about replacing the Noah with the slightly larger, but probably lighter 12 x 15 OES.

FWIW the JRB 11x10 tarp is large enough for a base camp and provides a myriad of hanging options. Check out the JRB site for info. I have one and find it to be quite versatile.
