This is so cool! You have given your child supreme bragging rights! Has she had a friend over to spend the night yet? What fun! Hey, can I come? We want update photos as this stand gets decorated and takes on other functionality. It is tempting to photoshop decorations in . . . clouds, trees, butterflies, a mural painted into the corner. But then, we could go with the barn yard theme, too. Thanks for all the smiles!

Looks great!!!!!!! I was trying to figure out a stand to do the same. My daughter is 5. She hasn't seen much on this site, but when I go outside "testing", she always has to try mine. Was going to make a DIY for her for X-mas. My older daughter (14) has said that she wants a hammock also. They share a room, and space was a concern for putting in a stand, this design gets me thinking.

Bradley, I admire your passion for your family and you doing that. Your little girl must feel like her daddy is the biggest man in the world who would build a castle for her!

That said, and I hope I don't offend you, as a woman I can see why your wife might have not been so pleased. I like the idea of curtains and making it princess or fairy-tale like. Every little girl (well most of them) want a canopy-bed. With some fabric her bed can be the most awesome canopy bed out there.

    You're a great dad.

Seriously, nice job, and a couple of coats of paint to match the bedframe, you'll be lookin' good.

Oh, and levels are good things.

This is awesome. The juices are starting to flow.
Now the hard part....how do I keep her(wife) from finding out....

Are there any updates to the project? Would love to see them.

Bravo, Bradley!! Bravo!! A great job for something that will be forever cherished in her memory. Yes, the smile says it all and it says, 'I am so lucky and so happy!' Has to feel good to get paid that way!

THAT is a GREAT idea! "Swag" some inexpensive fabric across the top and let it drape down each side and it WILL look like the bed of a princess! It'll hide the raw lumber that your wife objects to. Everyone will be happy! Awesome job. Thanks for posting!!!!

Great job on the frame and on being a good Dad! FWIW, my stance is I do the wood, She does the decorating. I'd ask what color paint or how she want me to hang the curtains she made. ;-)
