so, having built a full sock and realizing that it holds in the heat way too much to be comfy for summer trips (where bugs are) i figure i hafta chop up my sock bugnet and set this up to be better prepared for a coming hang at a fmaily reunion near the leon reservoir near eastland texas. thank goodness for dejoha's write-ups and fabulously thought out illustrations, this shouldn't be too big a project for me to complete in this short week's time. i owe it alll to you dejoha, my entire hammock hanging experience is thanks to some old geezer from the bpl forum and derek's easy illustrations.

A thought for you, I have used a HUG bugnet made from no-see-um and a Fronkey style bugnet. During hot summer nights the Fronkey style is much cooler and allows you to kick off top/bottom insulation. The HUG is great for shoulder season, but depends on the top and bottom insulation to protect your legs/butt from bug bites.
Fronkey style bugnet (and a small battery fan on the ridgeline) is my go to for hot summer nights.

I made an 11'r with a HUG or HalfWit style net and have used it exclusively this year. I used the super light 0.5 noseeum which is at the same time light weight and also much more airy.. not as stuffy as regular noseeum. If it has downside it's that it appears tear easily (put a small tear at the corner reinforcements) and it's so lite that the slightest breeze sends it waving around. I didn't use the bottom shock cord as I thought it just easier to maneuver the net over me, and I use a lite UQ/TQ all summer. Very happy with the design.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

i also am into a light TQ/UQ setup even in the warmer times. the above mentioned family reunion was a hit, and i didn't use the bugnet, i used a $5 citronella candle from the local wallyland near my head end on the ground between the two hammocks i setup for myself and a cousin and it worked out great. seems i have another luxury item to take with me whenever i go lol. i am now on the hunt for a small rechargable clippy fan, i have a too-large one. cutting up a usable piece of gear seems a waste of all of my 'its so hard to sew bugnet i can't stand it' efforts.
