    Will it hold?

Okay, I want to make the conversion to whoopie slings on my ENO double nest!

I am looking at 7/64 whoopies and I only have one question.

Will 7/64 amsteel hold me for sure?

I'm weighing in at 300#'s. I plan on pulling the trigger on them this friday! Let me know what you pro's think!

    Thanks all,
    Tbull

Rating on the rope is 1600# and the woopies is around 1000# if memory serves so you should be fine. Think redden is still running the forum discount too so that may be worth checking (think their post is in the other vendor's sub-forum).

I actually just got my 7/64" amsteel in the mail today from Redden. I then proceeded to make my whoopie slings and try them out on my ENO DN. I weigh just over 300lbs. They held like a charm. Go for it, you'll love the whoopie slings.

The 7/64 Amsteel whoopies with Dutch biners rocks! Light weight and way strong.

I had trust, but it was weary. I was pretty confident with my HB double and 1/8" amsteel- plus my roommate and i did some stress tests. but when i set up my girl's GT UL on 7/64 and was ploppin my 220 lb butt in there, you better believe my palms were a little clammy...

Please explain for me. I'm finally coming around.

I have whoopies on my clark with 1.5" wide straps from Hennessy, that I use with a biner on the tree and a biner for a toggle as well. I know, I know. lots of weight there. But this is my back up hammock.

I would like to get with it on my WBBB 1.7 double. Been using WB 1" tree straps with the dutch clips. But recently, it snapped, and on my butt I went. It actually frayed at the tri-rings then snapped under my weight. (which we will not discuss right now). After some tears and embarrassment, I tried again. It frayed again where the tri-rings bite down (the straps like to slide sideways with the weight). I lost confidence and went to the clark (was base camping with the Boy Scouts). Some more whining about not being in my comfortable BB, then gave up and went to sleep in the truck. Grrrr.

Rook (my hubby) said I need to get converted to whoopies ASAP and the BB will hold my weight with my cocker spaniel too. The BB usually stretches through the night and sags, so I end up hanging the whole set up so high the Te-wa says I need a trampoline to get in it. (He's just too short, HA!). I need to get this together. I do not want to keep fiddling to make it work for me.

So dutch with whoopies? What are you using for tree straps? I got a vision of amsteel wrapping around the tree??? that didn't add up. HUH? Help I need to get some whoopies (preferable made for me. Got the last pair from Stormcrow) and seat belt straps for the tree? Any ideas/thoughts?

No amsteel around the tree! Just 1 or 1.5 inch webbing with at least one end of the webbing with a loop sewn in. Webbing around the tree and slip the free end through the loop and pull tight to tree. (You could also use a Dutch clip) Marlin spike hitch in the free end of the webbing with a toggle and hang the whoopie over the toggle and you are good to go. (If someone needs help the Marlin spike hitch it is toward the end of THIS video)
