AS Mac said ; how was the condensation ???
To clarify my query... I have hung in those conditions many times with IX, without condensation problems. Just curious how Charley fared.

No condensation problem.
An update of sorts. I have 3 UQ's and 3 TQ's. All diy. The first was poncho liner because I had them. I then made a version of 2 layers of insultex. Then I got 2 of the EB down throws and made a TQ and UQ out of them. The down and ix together will take me to freezing. Last night it was snowy and 20'F feels like 11 with the wind. Starting from the top I had IXTQ, EB down TQ, me, dbl layer diy hammock, a beat up layer of the foam like is in ix, down UQ, IXUQ, PLUQ. I was warm but had an occasional cold spot. I was not sleeping well, that could have been many reasons. At 2am I got up and put blue pads crossed between the layers of the hammock. I was very toasty. I had the doors on my tarp closed and it was fun listening to the snow fall and then the wind pick up and the snow slide off. About 5:30 am I had to p so I just came in and went to bed. I now know that with the down and ix top and bottom I am good to freezing and adding the PLUQ will take me to 20 if needed and with the 2 pads 20 is warm. The 5 quilts plus the thin pad is about 5 pounds and the 2 blue pads are only about a pound. These Quilts cost about $25 a piece including shock cord. So for about $100 I'm good to freezing and for another $25 I can survive 20. Adding the 2 pads at $12 and I'm toasty at 20 degrees for $137, at 6 pounds. I have spent a lot of time making and tweaking these but it has been fun. The down compresses to a tiny bit less than a quart, the ix a bit more than a quart, and the PL almost 2 quarts, the extra thin pad is about a quart also. That's about 2 gallons of space not counting the 20x 6" blue pads. I sleep warm.
Time to start the winter tarp.

and if you are out in 20* with snow, you could easily justify/utilize one of those sled things, too!
PS sounds like a great system, thanks for the update!
I'm working on the sled thing.
