    Slocan Lake Aug 2010

Well i haven't sent anything in for quite a while so i thought it was about time. I've been busy putting in about 30 days of paddling on Slocan Lake this summer and fall so i'm going to put it in a few short reports. This was some beautiful paddling , swimming, hanging and eating. Water temp was about 68F so very swimmable for around here. I practiced some self rescue techniques while the water was warmish, its already dropped to 62F, and tried to improve bracing techniques etc. I've paddled alone for the most part so no shots of me in action, probably just as well as the last time i took someone with me i flipped the kayak getting in off a rock ledge, chine having caught on an edge and over she went. All was well tho as you learn from every day your out. Its just been another great way to experience nature. More to come.

Beautiful stuff. Looks like a great paddle. Nice hang.

Swampfox; i think it was you who was asking months ago about the water temp.Well in mid-june it was 58,59F, when summer got rollin it was about 68F and sept mostly has been cool and rainy so dropped to 62F , of course its that time of yr where it starts to get cooler anyway. Once the water temp drops below 60F you have to start thinking about hypothermia. We are in a sudden warm spell for this time of yr so hope to get out this week to Kootenay Lake a beautiful lake about an hr and a half east of here.

I'm glad everyone's enjoying the pics. Its been a real privilege in many ways to spend so much time discovering all the nooks and crannys. Its about 28 miles long so about 60 miles of shoreline. I just came off a trip a few days ago that was one of the best of the yr and will put it up in a few days .

Great pictures and that last one looks like it would make a nice desktop picture.
