WOW!! I wonder how pliable it is...if you could cut it to cup the entire inside of your hammock. Hmmmm.....

I have some I got off ebay. Very pliable. Great in a hammock. Not the best for ground use as it is considerably more compressable than standard CCF.

I found some that is self adhesive.....

Lining the entire inside is what I've been thinking..or add a second layer to the material on the bottom like a pocket........and slide the mat into the pocket....if you split the pad, and put the entrance back at the head, you could slide a pad right down into the split pocket like your fingers enter a glove...

Wouldn't a pad that's wide enough to cover the entire bottom of your hammock (4 wide+-) be incredibly bulky? I do like the idea but question hauling it around. Would compression straps shrink it down to a manageable size?

you know those old, well (loved?) abused blue camping mats? They still seem to do an ok job of insulating even if the cushy comfort is gone.

Are you talking about doing this to a HH? Adding material underneath (is that called an undercover by the way?) and then cutting the pad and material where it splits at the end and follows the HH slit like a Y right?

What material would you use and how would you attach it to the bottom of the HH? Also, are you thinking of still using an underquilt, or would that not work because your body heat wouldn't penetrate the pad?
