For a while there, I used tautlines on most all of my tie-outs for pitching my tarp. When I first learned the trucker's hitch/McCarthy hitch, my mind was blown. Simpler to tie, simpler to untie, easier to adjust (mechanical advantage) and near infinite adjustability along the entire length of cord. This is now my go to. Someone already posted it, but I will re-post it because it is a great demonstration of the simplicity/effectiveness of the system:

That said, I do have a CRL that I built up using mini UCRs with dutch hooks to hang the tarp. Great system, very easy, lots o' bling. But while I am on a backpacking trip, It gets passed up in favor of the simple and light cord w/truckers hitch system.
Mostly, its what you find most enjoyable to use!
