    left?

I have a lefty Blackbird because I sleep mostly on my right side. I got a regular also because the small asymmetrical tarps are all rightys.

I prefer to use the lefty, but need to carry a larger tarp like the JRB 8X8 with it.

I can sleep on my right side in the regular, but have no view.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

Really, who'd a thunk it? I am a rightie stuck in a leftie state....does that count? One thing I wish was more available on the left coast (central Kalifornia to be more accurate) would be the ability to try out the different hammock offerings. The eastern folk seem to be most active with gatherings. Maybe it might have something to do with more trees. Oh well, just have to be more creative I guess.

I'm in the same position as you Law Dawg--no gatherings to see different options and gear, and to compare notes and see other setups. That's why this forum and videos from Shug, Grizz, Hawk-Eye, MacEntyre, et al. are so important and are the next best thing to a group hang.

I'd say you are in a worse place but then who knows. This forum has been a huge help when the bug bit from a thread started on a moto site. The funny thing is that brand and style loyalty pretty much mirrors the same stuff you get on moto sites. Someone posts "Newb needing info on what kind of bike/hammock to buy..." and look out.

Funny thing about Shug was when directed toward his newb Youtube offerings my first thought was "Great, when is Ernest P Worrell going to get to the hammock info". Now his stuff is golden and I remembered once again how much I liked ol' Ernest (RIP)...go figure.

So I plan (as usual) to camp locate leaning toward the trees anyway. Now I find myself looking all around (even in town...stealth hang) for good trees for set up. How do you fare in NM?
