I'm out of the Mt.Rogers hang since I work every other week and it looks like my work week is when that hang will be---so my hopes are on your Florida hangers, please pick my off week and I'll be there.
I've sea kayak a week in the Everglades, I've sectioned hiked on the FT, I've paddle camped in the Swamp between Ga and Fl (Scotch prevents the name from coming up)...so I'm hoping for a Panhandle hang! and the last time I was in Appilachicola there was a resturant that had oysters served 27 different ways!
So it's a 50/50 that I can attend, my fingers are crossed!

I would go Suwannee then panhandle myself. Of course I've heard great stuff about the panhandle. I have a brother in P-cola I could talk in to going.

I like the Ocala Nat. Forrest for it's central location and lack of regulations.

I've been reading the forum for a number of months now. Just ordered a WBBB.
If it arrives in time for the hangout event, I'd like to show up and show you what a nubie hanger looks like. Coming UP from Ft Myers area.

    ...Muttly...

thanks for the welcome Muttly. Bokeelia huh? I launch my skiff there every so often. Pine Island Sound is always a good time.

Looking forward to getting my hammock to start camping off-the-ground and sleeping more comfortable out there.

I agree. Ocala Nat. Forest would probably be the best "central" location for people coming from all different parts of the state.

There are ample hanging opportunities, as well as hiking on the Florida Trail and kayaking/canoeing in the many spring runs, Lake George & Kerr, St. John's and Ocklawaha Rivers, etc.

I'd be willing to come, but it will depend on when...my schedule is kind of busy this winter, so we'll see.

P.S.--Hey skrewloose! I used to live in Melrose, and have friends in Keystone! Small world!

We might have a winner with Ocala N.F. I have been planning on sectioning some the FT there sometime in the next few weekends anyway. Anyone want to go on a scouting mission to find the perfect spot?

I think it should be car accessable with all of the above activities nearby. That way if you're really not into hiking a distance, you can still come and enjoy the company.

I would like to have it in the real winter. Let's see, that's about two weeks during January in Florida, isn't it?

The locals might actually be able to hike without sweating to death and the snowbirds will be wearing shorts and tee shirts anyway because it will feel like summer to them.
