Asym fly on HH symmetrical Scout-mistake?

For the past two months, since taking delivery of a new HH symmetrically designed Scout, I have been trying to figure out why I cant get the fly to fit correctly. Was it upsided down, backwards, off center...etc etc. Well, today I finally removed it and placed it on the ground and lo and behold! it is an assymetrical fly. Is that the way its supposed to be? or just a simple mistake. I emailed Hennessey yesterday and waiting for a response.

    Thanks

I believe all flys on any HH are Asym. on the bright side, just stake them out, you got more standing room.

They used to have diamond shaped tarps before they had asym hammocks...I'd assume they still make them if they're selling non-asym hammocks. Curious what they say when they reply.
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story

My HH fly is asym. I works great with an asym hammock, but I can't see it working as good on a symmeterical hammock. There just isn't much margin for error with the stock fly to begin with. I wonder if it's a method (scam) to get folks to buy the new oversized tarp?

I doubt it's a "scam". All summer when you bought a Scout they included an oversized hex tarp at no extra cost.

Good. I hope it was just an error.

I can certainly measure the fly but because of its assymmetrical shape it will not cover one end of the hammock no matter how I try to configure it. Therefore, in the event of even a light rain I or my sleeping bag will get wet. I would imagine that the correct fly for the "Scout" model would cover the entire perimeter of the hammock so that none of the netting is exposed.

Hennesey is taking care of everything

The rep at Hennesy will send me a new diamond fly, no problem. As, usual, great customer service and a pleasure to deal with.
