Therapy? Here?? It's like having an AA meeting at the local liquor store!
I guess we will have to come up with a 12 step hammock hanging therapy plan

Yes, hedging my bet should hanging not work out I will be in good position to sell.

I have quality-bugs-worked-out, compact but luxurious tenting gear for motorcycle and canoe camping that I should get rid of. This seems an unlikely audience.

Applying ancient secrets, I have achieved a base pack weight of 0.00g for under $1,000. For those who are very competitive, you could try to tip the scales by sending me heavier gear that is simply too tempting to ignore when packing. E.g., WBBB double 1.7oz., 3-season Yeti, OES SpinnUL MacCat Deluxe, and StormCrow’s 3-season Burrow all come to mind. Other ideas welcome.

Sorry, no dimes, I traded them in for a paper dollar and wrapped it in fleece creating a self-inflating ultra-lightweight camp pillow. As it turns out, a popular commercial hammock manufacturer has already filed a patent application.

No poet. Years of technical writing has led to stilted over formal writing. Too much time and too little outlet may have contributed.
    Peace to you

I found the step program to be very helpful. Once I was able to admit powerlessness over devastating gear creep, the next 11 steps were not even necessary, no more guilt feelings and no point in further resistance.

The problem in formalizing a 12 step program is that highly dedicated support [read spouses], often lack the land navigation skills to keep track of their charges. Further, most do not even see the signs of relapse; furtive trips to the basement and shed, unprompted toil in the back 40, quick trips home a lunch-hour and so on. I have heard of some real sad cases where the wily gear junkie manipulates the “supporter” into joining in the debauchery often with devastating results.

they are all so well rested after a nights sleep in a hammock
and that just makes for happy people

You neglect to mention that step #2 is:
    2. Now that you have completed step one: don't think you are able: and not in need of continuing.
