Red face Shhhh, please don't tell my wife....

... I just made my first hammock related gear order! 2 pair of Dutch Clips, 2 pairs of Dutch Biners, 2 pairs of tree straps, 2 of Jeff's pack cover/gear hammocks, and a JRB compression sack. Gotta buy 2 of everything because my daughter is my hiking partner. Ouch! And I don't even own a hammock yet!
After just receiving my new MHW Quark II (a steal at $92 shipped, really!) she'd drop a turd if she got wind of this!
I've officially got my foot in the door.

I'm with ya brother! Ordered too much stuff from the Ahe sale. Have my daughter on the lookout for the package so the wife won't yell too much I hope! Congrats on the stuff. Now figure out what hammocks you're going to get!

LOL, I think many on this board know the feeling :-) Though she has gotten used to it, as long as I keep the ratio to max 5:1 (5 packages for me, 1 for her) she's alright :-)

Say, I'm interested now, pack cover & gear hammock in one, sounds cool, any info on this one by any chance?

Ps: I once ordered a maxpedition backpack, love it, but I had that conveniently arrive when she wasn't home

Vulture II, it is a beast. I wanted a pack that could serve as a carry-on, so the size had to be right (not too small, not too ginormous) and it had to be sturdy. I somehow stumbled upon that brand, and it seemed to be quality. I ended up getting one (I recommend ebay) in black, you can barely see that it is a military inspired bag at all, frankly as soon as you stand 2 meters away all the webbing disappears and it looks like a plain black bag. It is a dangerous bag though, as you can expand it by adding pouches and what not, can be costly if lack of self control takes over :-)

The build quality so far, I'm very impressed. I think this will last many many years, and it is very roomy while not being too bulky. I easily fit gear in there including a pad which I hook at the bottom with webbing, for +3 days. It might be a tad big for one day, but as soon as it's an overnighter, this is perfect.

Edit: To get back to the introduction: It works perfectly as carry-on, if they complain just tense the compression straps and you're set to go :-)

Welcome to the geared-up crowd! Soon you'll have to buy a bigger house so your gear doesn't crowd your wife out of the bedroom! And of course, you'll have to have a good camera to post pics of your gear, especially after you choose two hammocks.

(Hint: get one for your wife, too... )

I have Vulture II as well, but in foliage green.... coolest pack I've ever owned! I also have a few Maxpedition pouches - love the quality!
I started a Vulture II thread a while back, since I began doubting that it could be useful as a 3 day pack, but have since been reassured

Would be fun to see photos of the bag + contents

Oh and sorry for hijacking the thread.... back on topic
