Who has done the pole mod on their tarp?

I modded my BWDD winter dream to accept a pole a few months back. The mod provided extra room and for me eliminated the need for tarp tensioners.

Just curious as to who else had modded their tarp in this way.

My buddy Black November did it and I was extremely jealous at our last camping trip. I'm definitely going to do it.

We added the pole pockets to many tarps over the past year and have had good reports on the result. The tensioning of the pole is sufficient negating the need for tie out tensioning, a point many do not think about.

could we have some more info (pix help, of course) on how to do this?

thinking of tents, it sounds as if pole pockets could be some grosgrain ribbon on the underside? but then it would appear that this would turn the tarp up and cause water pooling.

This is the way we make the pockets. They are usually placed on the tarp edge at the center, providing for one sectional, shockcorded pole to be inserted.
