    Thumbs up

Looks solid to me. I imagine most people could hang from that w/o worry. No calculator required on this one.

Truth be told, I've been in telecom sales for 20 years. Most of my M.E. knowledge has faded away.

That is not bad SGT. And I like that you don't have a rail under the hammock (& under your back) just in case.

Bite yer tongue! It is rattling around in there somewhere, especially the fundamentals, which is handy stuff and applicable in this case. I wish I knew just the part you can recall now!

It was towboating that learned me how to understand structures such as the one Sarge has built. I love the use of the base diagonal, as well as the asymmetrical braces. It's not an offshore rig, because it can be twisted. However, for it's intended purpose as an indoor hammock stand, nothing more is needed.

It is 104". It was 108" (3 yards) but I folded over the ends to sew in channels for a gathered end hammock. There is 1' of cord on each end between the knot and the hammock, so it could accommodate a hammock up to about 120" long. I don't think you would want to with a hammock body all the way to the pole because of head clearance but I could be wrong.

It is made from some cotton tiger stripe cammo material my boy picked out. Easy to machine wash. I made him an under quilt last night from a comforter.

Vey cool idea, Rock. Looks like someone paid attention in geometry class all those years ago. Many, many, long, distant years ago.

Somewhat. But even more I've watched a lot of Monster Garage. Engineering on the fly.

That was one of the things I was looking to avoid making this. I was picturing a 12 year old sleepover with wrestling and such and visualized two boys tipping over onto a 4x4 base which was the first idea I was going to do. I was 90% sure I was going to make a rabbit ear stand: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=16920

One thing I have thought about doing is making a pallet on the bottom that would be padded and cover the base including the poles.
