Question Help me pick my first rig!

OK, after lurking and reading and watching videos, I'm now trying to set up a list of things to buy for my first hammock rig. But her's the catch - I get to buy 2 setups! I backpack with my daughter so, of course, I have to buy her a setup too.

So far, I've come up with

    Warbonnet Blackbird Double Layer 1.1oz (I'm 6'2"+, 195)
Gargoyle Gear Ogee (for solo hanging)
Warbonnet Big Mamajamba Spinn or OES MacCat Deluxe/Ultra Spinn (for dual coverage)
    3-Season CrowsNest underquilt
    5' straps
    8' whoopie slings
    some of Dutch's stuff
    Jeff's Gear Hammock/Pack Covers (I love multi-use items)

I intend to use my full length zipper sleeping bags for now instead of top quilts.

Please comment on my current list and suggest a second hammock and a second underquilt and any missing items.

    Thanx guys!

That list looks good! Looks like a seasoned hangers rig.

Looks very similar to my list:

Warbonnet Blackbird Double Layer 1.1oz (ordered)
Undecided on my tarp (thinking a lightweight winter for enough room for me and my dog) Maybe a Superfly, Speer winter? Hoping to pick up a used one.
    Lost River 3/4 UQ
    Montbell Sleeping bag
    6' tree straps (ordered)
    some whoopie slings (ordered)
Dutch's clips and biners (would order if I could)
Jeff's Gear Hammock to keep my gear off the ground

    Good list for sure!

Looks like a good wish list. Of the gear that you list I can personally vouch for the following. I have a WBBB 1.7 double layer and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I just got my Ogee Tarp from Gargoyle and have only rigged it in the yard once so far. But I can tell you that it is destined to be my go to tarp. I use 5 foot tree straps with Dutch clips and they have served me well. Whoopie slings are the gold standard for all my hammocks. I just got a set of Dutch Biners and they are a sweet piece of gear. I would not hesitate to recommend any of this gear.

Thanks for pointing these out. They look good. I've added them to my list for consideration.

    It's a fine list.
I thought there were too many choices when I got started on the hammock thing, but I don't know how you guys sort through it all these days. Just remember not to get yourself too worked-up about getting it just right. Your first gear list is simply the foundation of your new and improved gear closet.
