Whoopie Conversion On New Explorer UL

I've seen the video for attaching the sling to the HH. My new HH has nylon around the gathered ends of the hammock. I'm curious if I should just cut that away or perhaps make some holes in the nylon where the sling will thread through. I can't think of any reasons to do either other than perhaps aesthetics. Suggestions?

    Thanks.

If I understand you correctly, you want to poke holes in the nylon hammock body for the sling. Not recommended, you can larks head your whoppie to the hammock.

The nylon covers are just covers over the suspension knots. When I installed my whoopie slings, I carefully cut the black zip ties in the black nylon covers. I then removed the covers installed the slings through the covers and then put new zip ties through the cover channels. It looked just as it did when original except it now had whoopie slings instead of the Spectra line.

Hope this is clear to you.
    Take care,

    HH Conversion

Second that suggestion by bluefin. It's just a small zip tie holding that cover on, easily replaced for a factory like finish when you're done. When you order your whoopies or loops specify in your order that it's for a hennessy as the loops or whoopie ends need to be slightly longer to lash on correctly and check out the youtube video available that shows how to do it. I can direct you to it if needed...Bush

I've never replaced the zip ties on mine. Haven't had any problem with the end covers sliding on their own (yet?)
Makes it mighty easy to just slide the cover back if I want to inspect the wrap.

Order? I'm making them myself!! LOL

Thanks for the replies here. I thought of snipping the wire tie too. I'll probably just leave the cover loose under the knot when I'm done.

    Thanks again.

The HH knot covers are I believe

primarily for appearance, but they may also keep the line clean and free of boogers. I threaded thin Sterling cord (1 mm? 1.5mm?) through and just tie it off with a double shoelace knot. I had ulterior motives in replacing the wire tie: I wanted to be able to open it up to inspect the AHE Amsteel chainlink I replaced theoriginal HH line with recently.

Otherwise, the covers ought to stay in place unless you use SnakeSkins whick would probably displace them.
