How much weight is pushing it?

So how much weight is pushing the limit of the hammock. I see a lot of hammocks advertised 250# capacity and I weigh 230. I always skipped these and went for the ones that advertise 400# capacity. Is the weight capacity more for comfort or is it the structural integrity?

I was looking at the Grand Trunk Nano advertised for 300#. Is 230 pushing it?

You should be fine in the Gt nano at 230...I've slept in mine at almost 300 pounds...

You have to consider that the manufacturers under state the weight capacity somewhat to account for user error so that you don't set it up wrong, putting weight in the wrong places and break it. my 2 cents.

As long as you don't abuse the hammock (ie. use it as a swing) you should be fine. I have seen a video of a Hennessy Hammock used as such with no problem, but why test fate.

I like it...when heavy guys use the lightweight gear. And the 5 foot tall, 100 lb. girls use the biggest hammocks available.

    You'll be fine. Sit gently!
