Don't want to turn this thread into a discussion on weights, but here are two hammock systems lighter than yours for 0F. It can be done...just a question of whether or not you want to go thru the effort.

    Risk's setup:
    23.4 - WarmHammock w/ 2" insulation, TravelPod, suspension
    11.0 - Homemade Tarp
    24.5 - Homemade Quilt
    04.0 - Stakes/line*
    63 oz total - 3 lbs 11 oz - 1786 g

    Gardenville's Setup:
    16.9 - Silk Speer w/ Bugnet
    12.8 - Custom MacCat Tarp
    01.8 - Stakes/line
23.0 - Homemade Down Air Mattress
23.0 - Homemade Down Top Quilt
    77.5 oz total - 4 lbs 13 oz - 2197 g

fine, I will skip the campout. If you don't hammock it sure seems like you are a outcast even when trying to learn.

Ewker, don't let them get to you. I am not going to hang a hammock in the single digits. I will come right out an say it. I am sissy when it comes to sleeping in the single digits.

Who was treating you like an outcast? I think neo's comment was a joke, and I just posted some weights to show you that it can be done for lighter if you're willing to put forth the effort...both of those setups use homemade gear.

Seriously - you should come. We're all about being friendly here...no one will treat you like an outcast. We might even let you check out our hammocks as long as you promise to give them back at bedtime.

There will be a lot of people who will come to this site who are not hangers or begginers. We should welcome everyone...........and show them the way to hammock bliss.
