    Yes, that's it. When you make the poles lighter, they bend more. If you change the geometry slightly, you can make them cross against each other in the middle. Lash the bundle firmly at that point, and they will reinforce one another.

    There are a lot of pages in this thread so I haven't read them all yet and maybe this has been posted but it looks like someone at Popular Mechanics picked up on this in 2011 shortly after WV developed it. See here http://www.popularmechanics.com/home...erson-hammock/

    A Dutch company has made this into a product. They have a much wider base triagle and they're heavily built because they're mostly used at festivals. Not really something for camping, but I thought I'd share anyway. I'm not affiliated, I'm thinking of building something similar and found some pictures.
