    Smile First DIY Topquilt finished :)

    Just finished my first DIY down quilt two days ago (with my old foot-driven Pfaff 130) :

    - about 3m (~ 3.3 yards) Pertex Quantum
    - about 1.5m (~1.65 yards) nano-see-um netting
    - 250g (~ 8.82 oz) 700 cuin down from Poland (european rated ).
    - some cord (dyneema, elastic) and a tanka

    Weight: 470g (~ 16.57 oz)
    Loft: 2 inches, could be 3 if down is completely shaken to the top part ... and if I made bigger chambers .

    Not tested outside yet. ... But woke up like a warm baby at home

    That is a very well done piece of kit you have there. You should be proud.

    Very nice looking! I'm thinking the Pertex Quantum is super comfy fabric from all I've heard! Good job!

    @Savage: Thx -- I am
    @beep: Pertex Quantum really feels nice -- enrichment for your sleep!

    I have filled the first and last 4 compartments with more down than the middle ones (warm feet and warm chest contribute to my comfy sleep alot).

    Hey KM! Thanks alot! I've had this baby outside several times now. On top I've had the TQ in the alps at between 7000-8000ft AMSL in summer 2010 (unfortunately that's above treeline). Pimped with a survival blanket temperatures around 40F were okay (cold, but I even got some sleep).Draft-stoppers I've never needed also not during high winds hanging outside.
