Well I’ve finally decided to make the jump to tree sleeping…..
I’m in Australia and have been having a good hard look at which hammock to get and I’m 99.9% certain it’s a Warbonnet Blackbird Double 1.0.
I hover around the 80kg mark and am 178cm tall so this should suit me well.
I’m just undecided on which tarp to buy , I’ll only sleep in it for the odd night here and there while out hunting (realistically for about 4 nights a year). I know most recommend the Warbonnet Edge or the OES Standard as a minimum but do I really need a tarp that size.
I’m very weight and packed size conscious as I also have to pack all my other hunting equipment (read as junk) so am definitely steering towards the Spinnul or Spinn UL tarps around the 230gm weight mark.
Weather conditions will vary from a worst case 3∘C to a more likely 15-20∘C mark on average. I’ll not be using the hammock in winter, even if I were to our winters are nothing in Aus to what you get in the US. I’ll be avoiding use in the rain but if it does rain I don’t wanna get wet sleeping. Mostly it’s just morning dew and night mosture I’ll be keeping off me.
Is the OES Micro a good option…. I’m assuming the lesser size will pack smaller and so long as it covers the hammock would it suffice ??.
Obviously the lower price of the Micro is an incentive ……
Will the Micro pack much smaller than the Standard or Edge tarp.
Any comments would be appreciated to keep my sleeping/hammocking needs to a minimal.
