"Not to be a smartie but what in the world is the point? If you want to hang when out of town, why not save a bundle of cash and just camp? If you hang in a hotel room and *if* you can find that second contact point, you still run the risk of ripping the snot out of the door or whatever and that'll really cost you."
I agree with anyone who thinks, "why not camp," and I would! But in some cases, a hotel stay is my only option. When I am on road trips with my family, (two kids and wife), they tend to want to sleep in a bed while I want to get a good rest in my hammock. The solution is going to always default to a hotel room stay and my lack of a good rest (grumpy wife and kids could ruin even the best of trips). If there was a way to hang a hammock in a hotel room we all could win! I will be following any updates on this subject very closely, along with trying to come up with a solution on my own. I really hope this thread gets picked back up, I really think that the extended poles might be a good idea in the right direction. Maybe in combination with using a door hinge as an anchor.
