OK... Some pics of Gargoyles diamond tarp over a Grizz Bridge...

First pic is my first attempt at indirect grilling using lump charcoal and hickory chips to keep the temp around 400 degrees...

very cool work, nicely done, ive never used a diamond shape tarp but from looking at the pictures how do you protect your hammock/UQ/gear (espically towards the ends) you may stow under the hammock if a storm were to roll in. Mabey im just having a hard time invisioning it because ive never used one but it appears to offer so little coverage. Or is this a nice weather only tarp when your pretty sure weather isent going to turn sour. Diamond shape tarps look like a minimalist style tarp, am I correct in that assumption?

and Opie that looks like some killer BBQ yummy !!!
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

lrr, to be honest Im not sure. I can only summise that its for fair weather or for gram weenies... But I believe there are many folks surviving with a diamond tarp.

I do have it pitched rather high over the hammock and the wings pulled out pretty well. If one were to bring it down and bring the wings in, it would offer great coverage. I had gargoyle make the RL 12' long. It doesnt quite cover the corners of the bridge, but would offer plenty of coverage for a gathered end. I may see about getting another one but with a 16' RL. Would make a great beach shelter.

gargoyle is also making the diamond tarp with doors, I believe he is calling it the Ogee. (sp)

    Some Perspective

The Jacks make an 8x8...here is what they say about it:

"Description: The ideal backpacking hammock tarp for small and regular size hammocks. Made out of silicon impregnated 1.1 oz. ripstop nylon cordura® with ten tie-out/lift tabs. This tarp with its diagonal ridgeline seam was originally designed for hammock use and requires only two stakes. The 10 foot diagonal ridgeline provides excellent coverage, including full side wind protection, for hammocks up to 9 feet long. It readily facilitates ground use for those seeking more width than traditional 5'x8' tarps or ponchos. The tarp finished size is 7' 2" x 7' 2". It weighs 9.4 ounces and packs to 5"x5"x2". Includes a color coordinated silnyl stuff sack."

By comparison, the GG diamond seems huge.
