VERY interested!!! Just can't do that weekend without some severe reworking of schedules. We have a party planned on November 13th!

    We'll see what happens

The Rat Mischief will be there! And if anyone needs to fly into Austin (ABIA) we can carry two more upright in the grocery getter; more if you are willing to get horizontal! And I have plenty of places to hang if you need to stay over a night!

If someone needs to hitch a ride with me, I may be riding this one solo. I asked my girl if she wanted to go and she's thinking about it, but she's not much into hammock camping.......(yet). I live in Waco, so it's only a 2 hour drive I think at tops to get to fairfield lake state park.

Here's a word or two of encouragement to her if there are other possible objections too...

Fairfield State Park is a car camping place with a backpacking/primitive option. Our main camp will be in the car camp area and there are showers and real live flushing toilets there. In the backpack/primitive area there is actually running water and a flushing porcelain throne as well.

Ground dwellers are welcome and will only be mocked in a loving way and my bet is there will be enough folks with spare gear that if she wanted to try the hammock with the option to bail to the tent this would be an easy time to do so.

And finally, this is a family friendly hang where she will not be the only girl around. We typically have both men and women as well as children of all ages.

I'll definitely let her know that. It might be fun to go solo on my first hangout though.

my maps have been shipped. I ordered some topo maps, and they have a decent amount of trails marked. I'll be identifying the general places I want to go and looking at the sorts of trails and mileages we'd be in for.
