    Not another which hammock thread

I know i know, but im trying to find whats best for me.

I like the Warbonnet BB, but really do not have any need for a shelf and would like to get in either side,
I also like the JRB, but that seems like if you have broad shoulders it wouldnt be very comfortable.

So im after a combination of the 2, a hammock with out a shelf and accessable form both sides, but something like the JRB, but wider at the shoulders. oh, and with a bug net that you can fold up out of the way.

    Whats my choice ?

Boy, those are two totally different beasts you're trying to combine.

Is bug netting important to you? The Switchback from Tree to Tree Trail Gear is a comfortable hammock, to me. It is very roomy and has a couple of pockets instead of the shelf. Then, on your side of the pond, there is the DD Frontline hammock. Again, entry from either side. It's a more narrow hammock and doesn't sleep diagonally as well as a gathered-end hammock, but once you figure them out, they are quite nice.

Neither are going to lay like the JRB Bridge. They will be closer to the Blackbird, but not really. I'd give the DDs a try since the shipping will be less for you.

    Paul,

While I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination, I do have two hammocks. One Eno DN and the other a WBBB. If I use my bug net with my Eno, it restricts me to using just one side to enter the hammock, since only one side is zippered. If you plan of doing a lot of camping where there is no need for a bug net, then of course you have a choice. But in lower Alabama, there is no way for me to survive outside without a bug net of some kind.

As for the shelf, once you have it, it is nice to have a place to put your shoes, cell phone, water bottle, etc. very close to you. My favorite part of the WBBB is the footbox. The extra room to be able to lie almost flat is great, not to mention a place to store gear.

I am sure some of the experts will weigh in soon.

    Cheers for the advice.

Bug netting is not important really.

I guess im after something that doesnt squash the shoulders in and is roomy.

I wouldn't make my decision based on the shelf. If you don't like it, don't use it. I like the shelf but took off my tie-outs b/c I never use them. Even though I ignore that one feature, I still think it's the most comfortable hammock I've bought.

You could always ask Brandon if he'd make one with zippers on both sides. If not, see if 2Questions can hook you up with the mod he does for the HH models.

Re: the bridge hammock, you could make one yourself that's wide enough to accomodate your shoulders, or try the JRB with an inflatable pad. The thermarest NeoAir is only 15 oz or so. I think the large (77"x25") is about 23 oz. Pretty comparable to underquilts re: weight, but the pads may make the hammock lay wider.

I think 120" is still king, which would include the Blackbirds and the Switchbacks.

    Hammock

BB is coming out on top for me i think. I wish they came with zips on both sides and no shelf , now if Warbonnet did a hammock like that i would order right away.
