Noob questions abt. Wal-Mart fabric, quicklinks/chain links

I was speaking to the lady who is going to teach me how to sew and she told me that Walmart has bought out Joann's Fabrics and that the walmarts are going to be loosing their fabric sections....I got some regualr nylon the other day from the $1.00 rack but it's not rip stop...I think it'll still make a good hammock though...we'll find out soon.

i've made a couple hammocks out of $1.00 stuff that was not ripstop, & they did fine.
just check the weight to be sure it's near 1.9 & test it well at home.

Most fabric stores don't know the weight for the fabrics they sell...

Its because most of them sell fabrics by look and feel, mainly to women for sewing clothing, draperies etc where the weight really doesn't matter.
