    Hi

I am a budding novice hammock camper. I am putting my first rig together. I just got my ENO Doublenest (khaki and black). I picked this because I read about so many people liking this hammock and then there was the sale from Base Gear mentioned last week on this site for $49.99. Being that I am 6'1" I thought the extra room sounded nice and the price was right. I would also like to try one of the Assym hammocks sometime.

I also purchased a Kelty Noah 9 tarp at Campmor day before yesterday. I went to the store in Mahwah NJ. Usually, I just mailorder from there, man was it a treat. What a magical place for anyone that loves camping.

Now I have to get some bug protection. I am thinking of getting the Eno Gaurdian bugnet, just because I don't have a lot of time to make gear at present. Any ideas?

I can't wait to try all this out in the wild.

    Thanks!

The ENO bugnet works well especially if weight is not an issue. If weight is an issue it can be made lighter by cutting off the stuff sack. That stuff sack is overkill with the big buckles and heavy material. I would not worry about an asym hammock because with the doublenest you can lay as asym as you want!

When did Toys R Us start selling hammocks?

the eno bug net is a little cumbersome, i just use my eno in conditions where bugs arent a huge issue, if they are, i use a hennessey. the bugnet is workable, but i ripped the bottom seams apart becuase i hung my hammock too loose and my sag put weight on the bottom of the bugnet, and it ripped. Ironically, this led to a much more functional setup, i need not worry with the zipper, just lift the net up. (the bugnet encapsulated the whole hammock until i ripped the bottom apart)

I am thinking about putting velcro on my Treklight double (same hammock for all practical purposes) and making a bugnet something like the Speer one.

My other option is to just make myself a DIY hammock with a double bottom and the other features I want, and put the velcro and bugnet on it, then use my Treklight for winter when bugs aren't an issue.

    Or, both...

eno bugnet and another look alike "novica"

Whitefoot, thanks for the heads up on the eno bugnet. I have yet to purchase one. I found another hammock that looks like the ENO and Hammock Bliss line

Beautiful colors and a little cheaper. I might try one out for my daughter.

SO I received my ENO today, but ... I dunno, jury's still out, can't seem to get the hang right to get flat in it. Sparrow, how tight are you hanging yours? I guess I got spoiled with the ridgeline on the HH or something, now I can't see to get the ENO where its just right. If I turn too much to the side (steeper diagonal) I get the banana thing from the sides. I do like the top loading, no netting so I can reach stuff outside, if I can get the hang right, I may get one of those utility hammock/pack cover things from JRB. Anyone has any advice, I'm all ears.
