    Score at Walmart

    2oz digital camo ripstop.

Gonna use it for a single layer hammock.
They had 4 mill end bolts at the store I went to so you might want
to check out your local store.

First time I have seen this digital camo ripstop nylon there.

They also had some .6 oz green no-seeum mesh.

At least it looked fine enough to be no seeum. It is synthetic of some sort.

I got some of that too. Although I'm not sure the weight of it, but it's definitely the Digital Camo ripstop. I'm going to make me a UQ/TQ out of it. Got my Climashield ordered, just waiting for it to come in the mail.

You know I've looked for materials in Wally World before, I'll look again.

    Thanks.

New super Wal Mart (1-1/2 years old).
Today I found 51 yards of digital camo ripstop nylon, it is coated (shiny and slick), Anyone know exactley what it is ? Is there an upside and down?
10 yards of Dark Olive drab uncoated, 10 yards of lite Olive drab.

All for 1.50 yard, I just kept rooting through the piles.

Shiny and slick doesn't always mean coated. Nylon can be "hot calendared" where it's basicially ironed, causing one side to be shiny and slick.

One test is to look at a cut end (not the side) and see if it frays. If there's no fraying (even with a little encouragement) then you either have Silicone coated (yay!) or polyeurothane coated. Both are waterproof and good for tarps, sil is MUCH lighter.

The Polyeurothane coatings I've seen are rubbery with a slight yellowish sheen, but I have little experience telling them apart. If you found Sil, I'll take 10 yards! :-)

No fraying at all on the cut ends (while the regular ripstop I got is so frayed it is fuzzy).

The next step is to really test its waterproofness - rubber band some loosely over the top of a glass, and fill it with water. If there is any water inside the glass in the morning, it's not waterproof
