I just watched the second video, thanks so much for chronicling the adventure for those of us who could not go. I was a gorge rat long before I heard the term used. I have been to many watersheds, some of them so many times we started to stash cook ware in the small caves. Some people love to summit, and that is fine, but I have always enjoyed 'getting down' with the water!

I have not been to Linville Gorge yet, I have the maps, etc. but a trip with like minded folk who have done the trails before would be killer.
I will go on the next trip, fall maybe?

Say, is there any virgin timber standing in the gorge?

Hey Shug, Beautiful scenery there in the gorge....awaiting part three. At the very end you were eating "Hush Puppies" What are they ?

Its a type of shoe people wore a lot in the 70's. They have felt/hair on the outside and they fry up real good with some salt.

I was just gonna say that they looked a bit wary and standoffish. You have to be ready for anything in the gorge............

If you know how to use them, sure ... I originally did it myself with a map and compass. Can you still get turned around ... absolutely.
