    Another Map to Goat Island

Thanks for posting the map Muskrat. Here is another map showing the route from Moon's Landing in Cross Hill to Goat Island

I think this might get us there a little quicker. I am really looking forward to a trip. I hope we can get something set up and I don't mind being the point man for this trip unless someone else would rather take the lead.

I'm not opposed, in any manner, of you taking the lead on this. I am not opposed to a summer weekend but my girls would probably resort to the comforts of Gram's a/c and swimming pool rather than hang with dad, but who knows . . . they may surprise me. Early August might work for me.

I guess the next question is it ok to leave vehicles overnight at Moon Landing.

. . . on a separate note . . . heading to the Foothills Trail this weekend for a short section hike. Hope you have a good time on the AT CarolinaBP !

I just got off the phone with Gloria over at Moon's Landing RV Park and Marina. She informed me that there should not be a problem with us parking our vehicles overnight. They have a parking lot available. There is however a $1.00 boat ramp fee. This would still be cheaper than parking at the State Park. They have a $2.00 park admission fee.

That sounds like the best plan. Although, I'll probably get my father-in-law to drop me off (by boat) since I'll have to deposit my kids with them anyways.

Did the airal map show that Goat Island is connected to land? If so could someone drive someone else close and drop them off and hike in?

The map "looks" like the island is attached but the water is just shallow there. The photo might have been taken during a drought or when the water level was low for dock construction. I have been on the lake within in the past year and Goat Island is definitely an Island.

Good information chickenwing. If the date is good I'll either be sailing or kayaking from that landing. Thank you.

I'm in. My preferred weekends in August are 13 and 27, but it's not critical to me. I'll need a ferry to the island. Quite willing to paddle if that's what it takes but swimming doesn't seem like much of a plan.

Anybody else from Charleston interested in a carpool?

    Whoo-hoo!
I'll be hanging on the Chatooga just north of Burrell's Ford this weekend.
We'll go in at Burrell's Ford on Friday and hike in a short distance and base camp til Sunday. Supposed to be great weather.
