    HF Kindness and a Mora

Just wanted to share this real quick: the kindness of HF members is just contagious!

HF member snowshoe swung by my workplace today on my lunch break to talk Hammocks and alcohol stoves.

To my surprise (and delight!), first thing he does after shaking my hand is hand me a new KJ Eriksson model Mora knife! These knives are really nice, sharp, light, and all around wonderful for the kind of backpacking I do. In fact, this model is not even available anymore - it's a full tang, where the newer replacement models are 3/4 tang. Nice bright, "doesn't disappear when you drop it" handle.

Sorry about the bad pics - cell phone camera with poor lighting.

We talked hammocks and tarps, and I sent him off with an older HH side entry style hammock that I'd built as a prototype to try out (and also printed off some of dejoha's hammock illustrations to send along). Good conversation and what a great guy!

And get this... we finish the conversation and he takes off, only to return in five minutes to hand me the knife that I'd left in his car...

Thanks Mike! You're a great brother and I hope to do some trips with you in the near future.

    HF Kindness.

I have been continually impressed by random generosity and kindness I have seen too. The most impressive has been the gift of the UQ to sara girl snowwhite by HF members so she could do a thru hike.

I am also impressed by gear I see lent to strangers.

Meet them in person and stoves/line/insultex/hats/food/drink is sure to change owners before the hang is through.

    also impressed

I have to say that is awesome....
I have a renewed faith that there are still some great people in this world after the wonderful people i met at MAHHA, and then seeing posts like this.
Maybe it is the restful sleep so many are getting hanging between trees that makes them so much nicer than the general public.

Yep, hammockers are just the best. People send me things and then I have to send to others. It just keeps going. Great stuff!
