Is anyone using the rings being offered with the Whoopie Slings?

Will a piece of string/yarn hung from the line be as effective? I'm trying to reduce weight and bulk and it seems like the rings will increase both. I know they don't weigh much but my feeling is....why bother if you don't have to.

Well I know a good old cotton shoe lace works just fine!

I've heard a couple cases (I think Shug even mentioned in conversation on a past trip) where the drip string didn't prevent water from running into the hammock. I've not heard of water getting past rings so I went with rings myself. Yeah it's a little extra weight but if you are like me and not a gram weenie purist it won't be an issue.

Not sure about that but I've watched the water run down the shoe lace ... and no water went in my hammock ...

Close ... I added the ring 'cause it is light and does not tangle. I meant that the water got by the extra dangling whoopie.
I just don't like a shoelace on my line .... just me..... but it tangles and just ain't purdy to me.

Yes it adds weight. And yes there are other options. The all in one system is geared more for the folks who dont want to mess around with the different components of their suspension system.
