    Dyneema grid stop hammock fabric?

I didn't find any info about this by searching the forums. Does anybody have experience with making a hammock out of a light weight Dyneema grid stop fabric? I've seen a coated version of this material, but I wonder if someone knows of a source for a very light nylon ripstop using Dyneema that isn't coated. It seems to me to be the perfect fabric to use. Close to the 1.1oz ripstop nylon weight, but without the stretch. I would imagine it would result in a pretty flat lie.

I have been scouring the net for suitable UHMWPE fabric for ages, but have had no luck.

I reckon 1.1oz fabric would be bombproof too.

I don't think the terms lightweight and dyneemma ripstop go together very well

The lightest I've seen is like 4.0z per sq yard.

Isn't cuben reinforced with dyneema fibers? Just on a really small scale.

Yah but it isn't really a rip stop The lightest I have seen is 225D, like what Golite uses (and ULA maybe ) on their packs. Not light weight fabric compared to 1.1 ThruHiker is the only place I have even seen that weight though, and I have been searching my self for some of it in as light a weight as can be had.

McHale packs seem to use a lot of dyneema material. I think some of them use all amsteel version and not just the ripstop. I heard that the military is buying it up to armor their humvees from explosive devices. I'm pretty sure if you put amsteel in 1.1 it wouldn't be 1.1 anymore. I'd love to get some though. I need to start a company that makes specialty materials for the DIYer.

Yeah, my pack is an all Dyneema Subpop. I love it. It's a bit heavy, but I figured I was only going to afford a custom pack once in my life, so it better last. Since I haven't found any information anywhere about a Dyneema gridstop woven with a 1.1 like nylon fabric, I've been calling my different vendors to see if they could make it, or would know who could. I left a message with the Dyneema Innovation Group to see if they have worked with any of their current customers on making this, and if so, to please direct me to them. Otherwise, maybe it's worth looking into developing?

Yes, you're exactly right. At least as far as I've been informed. Now if they made a version of cuben that was highly breathable.......

Cuben is a non woven laminate material I believe.

    We need woven fabric, IMO.

Uhmwpe thread is supplied by loads of far eastern company's, surely it wouldn't be hard to get someone to weave some. Ill add to that, surely someone has some for sale to us, somewhere in the world.
