Just got done with my diy tarp and thinking about adding side pullouts to it. Should these be positioned based off where your head/feet lineup or is there some sort of logic or guidelines for spacing and placement?

A single tie out per side on a 12 ft tarp would be frustrating to me. On a 12 ft tarp you may want two tie outs. One at 4 and one at 8 each side. What this would allow is to run a stick or pole through both with your guy line tied to the center of the pole. This would really open things up. I have a hammock done this way and almost always use both tie outs. If you don’t want to use a pole, I have also ran a cord through both tie outs like a bridle and tied my guy line to that. Could even leave that attached if you wanted. Be sure to sew in a reinforcement piece on the back of the tarp and seam seal it and the tie out or you’ll get drips on you.
Appreciate your input and all the options you mentioned. I just used my tarp for the first time last night and realized wherever I put these they need to be clear of the doors when those are tied up to each other and not being used, but I guess I could just tie them up on the inside. I'll see about splitting the difference at 4' and 8' ft and see where that puts them the next time I put it up. Thanks again!
