backpack fishing trip with my boy

looking for ideas/recommendations on a nice backpacking trip for me and my son. He is a healthy 17 year old. I am an avid backpacker/hiker.

I am looking for a moderate hike about 3-7 into a stocked trout lake. (He loves fishing for trout)

    Either Oregon or SW Washington.

    any ideas?

    many thanks in advance!
"The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby." Ed Lynch

Take a slingshot. It's wild how much fun two guys can have with a slingshot and lots of idle time.

From the resources of my earlier post is Hawk Lake (AKA Granite Lake).

    Description
    Hawk Lake (AKA Granite Lake)
    description
A small high mountain lake in the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area (http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/wallow...telprdb5214080). The lake is stocked by helicopter with hatchery rainbow trout every other year.

To get to the trailhead take Hwy. 82 to Enterprise and turn right on Hurricane Creek Road. Travel 5 miles to the Hurricane Creek Rd. turn off near the Hurricane Creek Grange. Continue on the gravel road for approx. 3 miles to the trailhead. The main Hurricane Creek Trail will get you close to Hawk Lake however, there is no trail to the lake itself and of trail navigation is required.

Map Location - Just Southwest of Sacajawea Peak on the link below.

Image of Lake - Click the Fish Head southwest of the Sacajawea Peak and when the page loads, click the image in the upper left corner of the page and the full page image will load.
