VIDEO: White Mountain Camping in Slushy Snow

This was quick overnight trip to the White Mountains. I was meeting friends the next morning to stay at one of the huts on the slopes of New England's second highest peak, Mt. Adams. So I drove up the previous day, parked at the Appalachia trailhead and hiked in a ways for a quick night of camping. The snow was still fairly firm but it was 35 degrees and a light rain was falling. Not exactly the winter trip I was hoping for. I brought my 0° quilts because I had just finished the set and I wasn't going to let winter tell me what to do! It made for a very warm night.

Overall, a fine night in the woods. I had a great hanging spot and one of my best nights of sleep. I once again tried out the alcohol stove which fared much better this time. Glad for one more cold-ish night of camping this season.

Thanks for taking us along! the sounds of water are so soothing! And being warm and cozy in the hammock makes for great sleep.

Yes, the bubbling brook definitely made for a good night's sleep. Thanks!

For anyone interested, here's the follow-up video of our hike up Mt. Adams. The knee was definitely an issue!
