Yes Mooseman, I volunteered to James, a knot tie demo just for hammock camping.

I love knots, while many of my best friends avoid knots, choosing to use hardware. That’s ok2!

Sometimes it’s good to know a couple knots that hold without fail, are non-jamming, but still quick release.

I look forward to camping at Wooley Swamp Farm this coming weekend. Hope to see old and new friends.

I might learn a thing or two at splicing demo.
Mooseman spring is here! Happy Easter!

Google Maps lead us straight to Wooley Swamp Farm.
Got some great hammock trees here. And great parking at hammock!

This is a beautiful campground. Water is available, but for convenience I have my own water.

Out here in beautiful piney woods.
High my high my high my
    High my gonna act!

I urge anyone to camp here this weekend and also year round. It is a diamond in the rough.
David Madures campground owner and James Grady are both kind and welcoming.
    Hospitality at its finest.

Hammock campers needing a great place to hammock camp and fish (catch&release) have an ideal campground at Wooley Swamp Farms, Snow Hill NC.
Prices are reasonable, and David Madures, owner, is essence of hospitality. Trees are perfect for hammock camping.

James Grady and David Madures, hosted a fun hammock camping trip for all us hammock campers.
Thank you thank you thank wooooo

It was great to see old and new friends
I still can’t get over how good tasting Saturday’s supper tasted. The roast pig was outa sight. And I went back for more cole slaw.

I’m convinced, the recipe for tasty cole slaw is somewhere out there…same with banana pudding…

Saturday morning, this old man’s fingers were cold.
I put off Hammock Camping Knot Demonstration until afternoon, when it was warmer.
My mistake. All the other excellent demonstrations took up afternoon time.
By the time there was a time slot, most everyone was tired and did not want any more demos at that time.
Three campers attended knot demo. And one camper got to see one knot at campfire.

I recommend you watch my videos. Most but not all knots in demo are also on videos

    David Hughes
Phantom Grapplers Recommended Ties part 1 and part 2
I’ll be first to admit, my videos are hokey, long winded. Even though not every knot in demo is in these two videos, you get a good idea of knots that are tied in the bight.

Many people do not like to use knots because:
Knots take too long to tie, they fail to hold and or jam becoming difficult to untie.

Knots tied in the bight are tied in middle of rope without having to access either end of rope.
For this reason many of them can be tied almost instantly. Another quality of knots tied in the bight that I use for hammock camping, is they are very easy to untie.
Most of these knots, tied in the bight can be untied just by giving the loose end or working end a yank.
    Then the knot disappears!

Some of these knots can be found in an excellent app
    Grog Knots

Also known as Animated Knots by Grog.

Many knots in Grog Knots can be modified by finishing last step with a slip knot rather than passing single strand through for the finish.

Also it’s perfectly ok to dislike knots. Knots are not everyone’s cup of tea. Most of my hammock friends use hardware instead of knots.
Good hardware gives a faster, neater hammock set up.
But sometimes, knowing the right knot or two can save aggravation.

Hard to believe, we had four consecutive days and nights with zero rain, with highs around 60 and lows around 40 everyday. Not a single mosquito got me. I did see two ticks.
Perfect weather for hammock camping Thank God

Wooley Swamp Farm Hang was a success.
James and David were great planners and hosts. The NC Hammock Hangers really did a great job and all the supporters were awesome helping with the fundraiser and door prizes.
Thanks to all that helped, attended and or supported.
