ViDEO: Winter Hammock Camping 3 Nights BWCA Superior Gear Hammocks

Lots of thick ice but not a lot of deep snow. We had some sub 0ºF temperatures and some wind and some sun and some gloom. Wonderful food and I really needed this trip and enjoyed my time with Alex and Jonah. My soul needed it.
Our Superior Gear Hammocks kept us so warm and good through our 10 hour slumbers. I loaned one of mine to Alex as he has always piece-mealed a system together and he was impressed and said that it was his best warm sleep ever winter camping. He also borrowed my Warbonnet 0º Black Mamba TQ and loved it. We all had Warbonnet tarps as well.
I used my JackRBetter High Sierra Snivler 0ºF TQ and was great. I've slept down to -31ºF with only that on top of me before and was toasty. Down parka over foot box.

Great to see the gang back together!

This winter has sucked so bad for snow up here. I ended up buying some snow stakes like these - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BL155SQW with a hex head and using my drill! It was the best I could do to dig into the frozen ground.

That was a really nice video of your trip. Getting some solid time with people you enjoy is priceless. The beautiful scenery doesn't hurt either.

I just got back from camping up off of Moose Lake in the BWCA and was able to use normal snow stakes and just gathered up snow from around the campsite to put over the stakes. Stomped them down and added a bit of water to get them to freeze in. A couple of hours later and they were perfect and held up all weekend with the howling winds that were up there.

Been a very odd Winter for sure. I thought for sure there would be a little more snow on the ground back in the woods. Was a spectacular trip all the same.

We had a very good view from that camp to sit and enjoy. Glorious!

Your videos are becoming my only touch of the winter feel during the whole year. We have less and less snow every year. And can see you as well have less snow. However the temperatures make the winter feel much deeper. I would probably make you burn all the wood few miles around

This Winter has made me miss the Winter I usually want to hurry up and end. I still feel Winter will hit us once we all think Spring is upon us!

It was great to hear your voice again. I bet it was difficult for you not to belt out a tune or two!

The most difficult was just not being able to do the old day to day talking with Meg. That was the most difficult.

Shug - I have to say, you make winter camping look so enjoyable. One of these years Im going to work up the courage to spend a snow covered night in the woods, but Ive always been so intimated by the mere thought of sub-freezing temps. Glad you were able to get out and thanks for taking us along for the adventure!
